Professor Bishnu Pathak is a professor of human security studies who holds a PhD in interdisciplinary “Conflict Management and Human Rights”. He is the author of more than 100 international papers and has coauthored several books on human security, DDR-SSR, civil military relations, conflict transformation, peace, human rights, community policing, federalism, and principles of harmony including Nepal’s 2008 Constituent Assembly Elections: Converting Bullets to Ballots, East-West Center Bulletin. One of his widely circulated volumes is “Politics of People’s War and Human Rights in Nepal” (2005). His publications are frequently referred to in universities worldwide.
He serves as a Board Member at TRANSCEND Peace University, a Petitioner to the UN for Total Disarmament, Vice President at the Global Harmony Association, and Founding Chairman at Peace and Conflict Studies Center. He has served as Field Coordinator for the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University, as Task Force Member for Nepal’s National Human Rights Commission, as Senior National Peace and Conflict Expert for ARS Progetti (Italy) under the European Commission and as Senior Peace, Security, and Human Rights Expert for Particip GmbH (Germany).
